First Vacation Just the Three of Us

April 29, 2010

I didn’t expect much from this vacation because my mindset was I’ll be babysitting Matthew the whole time. I was also expecting that Matthew will be fussy on the plane and behaving out of control at the resort. We are now back after 5 nights and 6 days and I’m happy to report that things went smoothly overall. Ed and I even managed to get on the water slides individually. We each took turns on the slides during Matthew’s afternoon nap. The Atlantis resort, despite its being very commercialized, lived up to be called a paradise. It has everything you can imagine. Yes, it is a bit Vegas-like, but at the same time, I think it’s perfect for a family vacation. Matthew is too small to enjoy many kids activities like cooking, water slides, monster truck race, snorkeling, diving, etc. Perhaps we will return when he’s older.

The Matfew Update

April 7, 2010

The teachers at Buds and Blossoms call Matthew “Matfew” because they can’t pronounce “th”. Oh boy…but I could care less because Matthew has impressed us on how well he is doing at daycare. In just a month time, he speaks more mandarin words, four syllables at a time, sitting and eating all by himself, asking to wash hands, calling everyone by name, saying good bye to me in the morning with no crying. Of course it’s not perfect, he is showing his selfish side as seen in the video below but we love him no matter what. We’ll just have to working on sharing.
